Chen Jianghong
French-Chinese painter and picture book / comic creators
Chen Jianghong was born in Tianjin, and received his degree in Chinese painting in Beijing's Central Academy of Fine Arts. In 1988 he went to study in the Academy of Fine Arts in Paris, France, and held a personal exhibition in Paris in the same year. From then on he has started his career as a painter and lived in Paris, France.
From 1994 onwards, from being others'picture book illustrator, he began to create his own children's picture books. His picture books are adapted from Chinese folklores and myths, etc. with simple, child-like illustrations, which make Chinese culture universal. Although his picture books are mainly Chinese stories, they have been popular and adored by western children. They even brought him many international awards. His representative works include Zhong Kui, Young Eagles, and Tiger Prince. Some of the award-winning picture books have been published and distributed in France, Germany, USA, Spain, Mexico and South Korea. The Chinese translated versions are also published in China now.
