Yu-Hwei Chen (pen name Zheng Feng) grew up in Taipei and graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She worked as an investment banker in Hong Kong before she became a full-time novelist. Her first wuxia (martial arts) novel was published in 2007, followed by four more works. She is one of the most popular contemporary wuxia writers.

Ms. Chen has been invited to give seminars on novel writing skills at bookfairs, universities and secondary schools in Hong Kong, Taiwan and China. In addition, she is devoted to promoting reading for children. She was a guest speaker at the Taiwan Children's Books Festival in 2012 and has given various talks to parents of Hong Kong kindergartens and primary schools on the topic of developing children's interest and ability in reading. Ms. Chen has five children. She is currently a Board Member of the Feng Zikai Chinese Children's Picture Book Award.
