Born in Yanting, Sichuan, China, Liao Xiaoqin's pseudonym is Mai Zi. She loves the nature deeply ever since she was a little girl. She likes the feeling of being on the road, she likes exploring different world, and everything in the world. She worked as an editor, owned a bookstore, and studied psychological counseling.
Often wandering between the reality and the fantasy, she writes novels, fairy tales and poems. She has published many full-length children novels including Secrets of Sijiaodou, Grandma's Little world, and 29 New Year Pictures. Her short fairy tale collections include The Star Hunter, Half Spoon of Green, and The Warmest Thing in the World, etc.
She had been awarded of the first prize of the Original Fantastic Literature Award of the “World Cup of the Big White Whale”. She was the winner of the Bingxin New Works Award, the second place of the Children's Literature of the Hong Kong Youth Literary Awards, the winner of the excellent work of the writing group of the Hisn Yi Picture Book Award, and the second place of the Competition of the Short Story of National Children Literature of the “Zhouzhuang Cup”.
She is now a contracted writer of the Faculty of Arts of Chengdu, the supervisor of the Qixin Center for the Social Development and Promotion of Chengdu, and the member of the Chinese Writers Association.
Born in Shanghai in 1948, he was brought up in Suzhou and graduated from the College of Fine Art at the Nanjing Arts Institute. He was the Associate Chief Editor of Jiangsu Arts Publishing House before his retirement. He loves and enjoys creating picture books.
Chronology of his illustrated work: Flashing Rabbit Lantern was awarded the “Noma” Honorable Mention by the United Nations Asian Cultural Centre in 1984, and he also illustrated for A Day in the World, Fighting for Deer, Flame, etc.
